Due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order to help contain the spread of COVID-19, our streets are close to empty now with everyone staying at home. Besides health precautions, it is equally important to pay attention to safety measures during this time.
Here are 5 safety tips that you may keep in mind amidst MCO.
Do not wander/walk alone on empty streets, especially when it is still dark during the wee hours of the morning or late at night. The streets are more quiet due to MCO, and there may be opportunists thieves who might prey on vulnerable victims who are out alone.
Keep doors locked at all times, even when you are at home. Robbers might take advantage of this critical period to break into homes, so better be safe than sorry!
Be cautious of unexpected visitors, and always ask to see valid identification, even if they claim to be offering assistance. If you are living in a guarded community, get the Security to verify any visitors with you before allowing them access.
Be alert in seeking the right channel for food delivery such as GrabFood or FoodPanda, and take the effort to double confirm with your delivery person.
Be vigilant about your neighbourhood surroundings and keep up-to-date on nearby police stations and medical institutions.
Lastly, do heed the Government’s rules and protocol under the MCO, please stay home, stay healthy and stay safe.
